I know that it is a sound that will age all too quickly like so much that music before it and to follow but (right now) I really like the “real soul meets digital filtered chopped beats played on Native Instruments-like devices” sound of Keats Collective  …and backed with nice vibey visuals

Here are my top ten favourite songs for 2013 (unless I change them). Because I listen to a lot of music across a lot of sub-genres these songs are the ones that when I listen to them they just stick in my head…I think that is a scoring formula that is entirely honorable and respectful of the artist’s creative process and one that can be tested by others who may be interested in my little self-indulgent list…

Near misses…

Express Rising – Worry Your time

The Revolutionary Army of the Infant Jesus – Come Holy Spirit– a reissue

Flight Facilities – Clair De Lune

Tomorrow’s World(Jean-Benoît Dunckel)  – So Long My Love  – still love this but its actually 2012

Spazzkid – Forgiveness (Live in my bedroom) – or 40 Winks – one of these really should have got in Top Ten…

10 – Bill Withers – Can We Pretend True buried treasure I only just discovered this year

9 – Jessica Pratt – Night Faces Echoes of Laurel Canyon with her crystalline voice  and acoustic guitar – buy the album

8 – Nimble Animal – Back n Forth I am pretty sure I am the only one who thinks this is special as I had to load up a Youtube myself!!

7 – The Limiñanas – My black Sabbath – this years Jean-Benoit Dunckel

6 – Psychemagik – La Paix Est Une Fleur How could such an amazing track me previously unreleased (just sitting there)  and also one that is so full of respect to the 70s original

5 – Connan Mockasin – I’m The Man, That Will Find You Shuggie meets Cody meets Prince meets OutKast

4 – Saint Pepsi – Hit Vibes Trailer Its only 57 seconds but what a 57 seconds

3 – Oneohtrix Point Never – Zebra You know that feeling when you here a certain incredible  song twice but don’t catch the artist (I mean here think back pre-digital streaming and playlists)

2 – Damien Jurado – Silver Timothy

An acoustic-psych wonder that just builds and builds

1 – Pharrell Williams – Happy I am probably hearing it a bit too much now but when I first heard it I thought it was an old soul single just touched up – love the video also – this nailed it for me and even became a huge hit too – rare
